There are some fascinating matchups in this round of the Guinness Pro14. Today I’ll be looking at Friday’s fixtures. With the Champions Cup semi-finals featuring three Pro14 sides, it will be no surprise to see Munster, Leinster and Scarlets omit several big names from the team sheet (especially since all three are almost guaranteed a spot in the semi-final of the Pro14 too).
Cheetahs v Munster
Munster have been mightily impressive in the Champions Cup this year and will have their tails up heading to France in the semi-final. However, their form on the road in the Pro14 has left fans scratching their heads somewhat. With the Cheetahs seeming undefeatable at home this season, I’m going to have to tip the scales in their favour this week!
Cheetahs win.
Glasgow v Connacht
The hosts suffered a humbling defeat to the Scarlets last week in Llanelli, with their star players not quite firing on all cylinders. Connacht were also routed in west Wales with a 39-10 loss at the hands of the Ospreys. Of the two, however, I believe the Warriors will bounce back quickest to the roar of the home support.
Glasgow Warriors win.
Ulster v Ospreys
Since their 59-10 demolition of Southern Kings back at the beginning of February, Ulster have been more than just a little off colour, having lost four consecutive games in the competition. On the other side of the same coin, Ospreys have recovered from a truly dismal season and seemed to have found some of their form, claiming four victories on the bounce. This will be a real test of character for both sides but I’m edging the Ospreys ahead by just a few narrow points!
Ospreys win.
